Program Overview
Social entrepreneurship in university education refers to the integration of entrepreneurial thinking and problem-solving with a focus on socio-economic and environmental impact within higher education institutions. It encourages university faculty and students to develop innovative solutions to societal challenges - such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and access to education or healthcare - using entrepreneurial principles.
Universities are hubs of learning and individual development, playing a vital role in shaping knowledgeable, capable, and ethical individuals who can understand their social responsibility as educated citizens and sustain themselves and in turn sustain their communities.
Program Goals
Goal 1
Develop curricula on Social Enterprise Development for University students
Goal 2
Train faculty (30) in social entrepreneurship and innovation
Goal 3
Mentor and enable (10) institutions to launch (10) startups in (3) years
Goal 4
Co-create (2) innovation hubs in the South and Southeast Asian region
Program Objectives
- Enhance the knowledge of faculty members in developing a course in social entrepreneurship and with skills to teach the course
- Create sustainable support to develop entrepreneurship centers/cells within their institutions
- Build a network of educators dedicated to promoting and fostering social entrepreneurship
- Provide participants with exposure and hands-on experience of building successful entrepreneurship programs
- Provide mentoring support with specific focus on women-led entrepreneurial initiatives
